Product Spotlight: Bohyme Brazilian Wave vs. Kinky Curly Indian Hair

Natural Sunny's Girls....this post is for you!  Perhaps you have been natural for years but your shrinkage doesn't allow you to achieve the length you desire or you just want a low maintenance break with hair extensions... Either way you have probably debated giving Bohyme Brazilian Wave or our Natural Kinky Curly Indian Hair extensions a try.

So just exactly what is the difference?

Bohyme Brazilian Wave

Bohyme Brazilian Wave is a cult favorite amongst Naturalistas who weave.  The hair is seriously the closest representation to Natural "4C" hair.  Here are few tips if you want to wear Bohyme Brazilian Wave:

  • This hair is often out of stock because Bohyme admits it is really hard to get this texture just right.  They often get entire batches that they have to destroy because it doesn't meet their texture consistency standards.  So....when you purchase this buy 2 or 3 packs as insurance against it being out of stock when you desperately need it (i.e. a last minute vacation)
  • Bohyme Brazilian Wave only requires one bag for a full head installation if you get 16" or shorter.  The longer lengths hang so it doesn't give that voluminous cascade of curls you might expect it too.  I suggest going for 14" to achieve a Naturalista Voluminous look.
  • This hair is a commitment if you sew it in. That is a nice way of saying it's a piece of work.  This isn't hair that you can just go to bed with, wake up and shake and go... you will have tangles and it will look a dry fuzzy mess.  The hair is also notorious for shedding so buyer beware!  We recommend if you sew this in that you should take the time to reinforce the weft with Liquid Gold beforehand and let it dry overnight.
  • Because of the high maintenance nature of Bohyme Brazilian Wave our best advice is to use the hair to make a unit, u-part wig or clip in piece.  This allows you to take the hair off at night and the curls won't tangle or matt and the unit should last awhile.
  • The benefit of Bohyme Brazilian Wave is that is completely and seamlessly match your hair texture unlike any other hair extension if you are a blend of 4B and 4C hair.

Kinky Curly Indian Hair

Kinky Curly Indian Hair is Virgin Hair that has been steamed curled to resemble 3C or 4A Hair.  The curls are defined but very tight.  It can be diffused for a more defined and uniform curl or it can be brushed out as it is in the picture.  Kinky Curly  Indian  hair has become all the rage due to brands such as HeatFree Curls. Here are a few tips if you want to wear Kinky Curly Indian Hair:

  • If you have 4B or 4C hair you will need to blend your hair with the hair by either blowing out your hair (on low setting with heat or high setting on warm ) and then two strand twisting your hair into the Kinky Curly Hair
  • This hair doesn't tangle like Bohyme Brazilian Wave so it is easier to use for sew in hair extensions but it doesn't mean you won't be detangling this hair.  Curly hair by nature can tangle more because the tighter the curl the more chances there are to tangle around itself. So using a lightweight but rich conditioner or co-washing will help with tangling.
  • This hair is also fantastic for a wig or a u-part wig or clip ins.
  • You will need two packages of hair for this at any length you use.

We hope this helps you decide which one is best for you.  If you have any suggestions please leave us a comment or hashtag #sunnyshair on Instagram to showcase your Bohyme Brazilian Wave or Kinky Curly Indian Hair!
