For the first time ever, I'm actually a mom this year and so my perspective on Mother's Day has shifted somewhat. How do you give the ultimate gift to the women in your life who either brought you into the world, or loved you as if they did?
This year... I think the answer is to force her to indulge in the small luxuries that make her feel beautiful. I know that as a new mom to twins I often push off getting my nails done or getting my hair done... there are a million things that need to get done, a billion bills to be paid etc.
But when I do indulge I feel unstoppable. You know that feeling you get when you catch a glimpse of your reflection in your daily activities and you think...flawless? That's the gift that the mother in your life needs. So how to you do this? Here are a few suggestions:
Personal Shopping Session
My personal recommendation is to contact the personal shoppers at your local Nordstrom. The service is complimentary and you can send the shopper links to photos of your mother along with reference photos of the type of style she'd like to emulate. I love using Pinterest for this. Set a budget and set a time for your mother to come in.
The personal shopper will have laid out several different options from departments all over the department store. Before you go with your mother for this shopping session stop in to the makeup department and get her a quick makeup lesson and pick up a new shade of lip gloss or the latest greatest mascara.
